Another Hornet signs up for North Wales Crusaders

Another Hornet signs up for North Wales Crusaders

North Wales Crusaders have signed their sixth new recruit for the 2013 campaign in Steve McDermott, a hooker – in his preferred position – from Rochdale Hornets.

The 26 year old, who has spent the last few years at Rochdale, will also link up with Adam Bowman, Phil Braddish and Gary Middlehurst once again, as all three have also recently made the switch to the Racecourse.

McDermott was regularly present for the Hornets last term and Clive Griffiths is hopeful that he can be of great benefit to North Wales Crusaders next season. “We’re pleased to have signed Steve [McDermott] for next season. He’s got a lot of experience at this level and that’s what we’ve been aiming to do with our signings – bring in experienced players who can make a difference”, he commented.

“I’m not taking anything away from the work that Lee [Hudson] and Dave [McConnell] have done in the number nine position, but we want to cover all bases. We have plenty of boys in the squad, so it’s just about keeping them all happy and giving them game time now.”

Further to this, Crusaders can announce that fierce forward Jamie Clarke, who made a big impact with his relentless work in 2012, has re-signed for next year.
